The History of Starkey Road Baptist Church
In 1939 Calvary Baptist Church of Gulfport was founded in Gulfport, Florida. It was pastored by Dr. Eric A. Folsom from 1957 to 1983 and grew from a small church to a vibrant congregation.
In 1983, the Church bought land in mid-pinellas county and built a small Chapel. Upon completion, the Church relocated and renamed itself Starkey Road Baptist Church to reflect its new location off Starkey Road. Jerry Lancaster became the senior pastor at the time of relocation until his retirement in 2019.

Over the years, the Church grew and with it the original 5 acres expanded into the 15 acre campus we have today. From the small chapel, to the current Sanctuary that opened in 1999, we have seen God move in big ways over the decades.
In June 2019, the congregation confirmed our senior Pastor, Derek Parker. Pastor Derek initially came to SRBC as our Family and Small Group pastor in 2015. Derek and his wife Stephanie have a desire to make much of Jesus Christ and help others find, follow, and share the Gospel in our Church and community.
